How to create AWESOME content?

Reddit threads

In this post I will be discussing some key principles to create valuable online content. First, it’s always useful to use Reddit threads. Look up your product or service on reddit, read the threads, and see what content comes up. Doing this research will help you find out about people’s objections, questions or insights concerning the subject you are writing about.

Use short sentences

Next, always use short sentences, reading online is not the same as reading a book. When looking at a screen people need visually attractive posts, this means a lot of images, videos, graphs,.. And the minimum amount of sentences in a paragraph, use bullet points, mind maps or other to visualize a lot of information. Break up a long text with all a sorts of different media.

Design a mini story

Never ever forget about the power of creating mini stories when writing content. This is the essential way to keep people reading from beginning to end! Create a mini story to keep them engaged. Start with a memory—a person, a problem, tension, fear, conflict that resonates with you. Put your main character into terrible trouble as soon as possible! Everything they do to try to get out of the trouble makes it only worse but in the end everything your character has learned through all that trouble gives him what he needs to win the day—or not.

Super specific headlines

Make your headlines as specific as possible. Don’t create a general title that can refer to almost anything but be very specific and create a title so that readers know exactly what they can expect!

FOMO!

People do get influenced by the thought of missing out. When you want something and you know it will not be available anymore after tomorrow you will be more inclined to buy the product right now. Fear of missing out triggers a strong reaction, an emotion that makes your readers want to listen closely.

AIDA

Stands for attention, interest, desire and action. So, make your readers aware of your product, provoke interest in it, make them desire it until they are ready to buy your product! Keep this sequence in mind when writing your content.

Create content that is..

Different and 10x better than the usual stuff. How do you do this? Well, first do a google search on your product and see what comes up. Are these articles, blogs, websites? Skim through them, be critical, what doesn’t work, how would you improve them? Check how many words they used and double that content. Use better media, make your own videos, take your own pictures, find case studies (“your theme + case study” in google), use statistics, graphs,..The more media types the better/ video / audio/.. Also make your content simple, write for an 8-grader, don’t assume your readers are experts, guide them through difficult concepts or information. Custom design your page, create your own themes, colors, spend time on designing your page. Differentiate your content; your experience is different and unique, your content will be different because you are unique so use real life experiences and do let your personality and experiences come through in your writing! And most importantly focus on helping your readers to achieve a goal. Think very good about how you are going to help them, how will you assist them in fulfilling a need?
